As a potential participant and subject in a research
study, you have the following rights to get information about:
- What the study is trying to find out.
- The procedures, actions, drugs or devices the study will use.
- Any discomforts and risks the study may cause.
- Any benefits or value that I might expect from the study.
- The risks and benefits of any other choices, procedures, actions,
treatments, drugs or devices that might help me.
- Medical treatment choices if I am injured due to the study.
- Ask questions about the study or the procedures or actions that will be
used in the study.
- Quit the study at any time. My choice to quit will not be used as an
excuse to hold back medical care or treatment that I need.
- Have a copy of the signed and dated written consent form.
- Decide to consent (say yes) or not to consent (say no) to be in a
study. I have the right to be free of pressure to consent to the
study.
