All investigators and research personnel participating in the conduct of human-subject research must complete an Southwest approved basic education program developed by the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI). The CITI program is comprehensive and provides case-based learning of ethical concepts and regulations in a web-based learning environment.

ABOUT THE CITI PROGRAM
The Collaborative IRB Training Initiative (CITI) program was developed by experts in the "IRB community" and consists of two “Basic” courses in the Protection of Human Research Subjects for Biomedical as well as for Social/Behavioral Research. Members of the Southwest clinical research community are required to take the Basic Biomedical course. The Biomedical course contains 16 modules. Each module includes reading material that can be read on screen or printed and a brief on-line quiz. The format is “open-book” - you may refer back to the text at any time while taking the quiz.

  • Go to www.citiprogram.org to register for CITI online training.
  • Once there,  click on the link “Register for CITI course”.
  • Under institution selection  select “Southwest Washington Medical Center (Southwest)” in the “All others” drop down box.
  • Next  create your own username and password and select the group you belong too which is: Biomedical Research Investigators
