Southwest Washington Medical Center congratulates its team captains and employees who together raised more money than any other company in the recent Start! Heart & Stroke Walks in Vancouver and Portland, benefiting the American Heart and Stroke Associations.
More than 500 people from Southwest's walking teams raised over $38,000 for the May 16th fundraiser. In addition to being the overall top fundraising company for both walks in Vancouver and Portland , Southwest also earned the distinction of having the top walker (Ken Pasley-$6,400) and honorable mentions for number of registered walkers (538) and team fundraising ('CSM' Team-$8,405).
"We couldn't be more pleased by the generosity and commitment shown by Southwest employees, their family and friends for this very important effort," said Rainy Atkins, Southwest's chief operating officer and President-Elect of the Portland-Metro & Southwest Wash. American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Board of Directors.
This 5K non-competitive walk mobilizes the community to promote fun, fitness and to help save lives from heart disease and stroke, the No. 1 and No. 3 killers of all Americans. Companies, churches, neighborhoods, families and friends organize walk teams to raise funds and awareness to help fight heart disease and stroke through physical activity.
