Grateful Patient Stories

"We were so well cared for, and Mom was exceptionally well cared for. She chose to enter hospice following a severe stroke which left her unable to swallow. She lived out of town, so we brought her down to be near us. Our experience was more than positive. You helped her and us to manage this with dignity, comfort and love. We all are so grateful. She was admitted into a room at the Ray Hickey Hospice House which my husband & I had made a donation for in memory of my mother. For my mother-in-law to be so loved and well care for in this very room was more than a blessing! Thank you all."

"I've been a patient in six hospitals in four cities in something over 50 years, five of them in the last 17 years. Recently I was discharged from the coronary care unit at Southwest after entering through the Emergency Department.

Until last week I thought the University of Washington Medical Center was the regional gold standard for user-friendly medicine, but now I'm not so sure.

Everyone I encountered at Southwest treated me as if I were the most important patient on their horizon. I know something about trying to keep customers happy, but medical professionals have to deal with people who are frightened, confused, ill and crabby. That's a whole new ball game and the staff at Southwest obviously plays it at a major league level."
