INVESTING IN OUR FUTURE: Career Opportunities

As many as 64 students pursuing a health-related course of study will receive a college scholarship through the Southwest Washington Medical Center Foundation.

The Foundation awarded $108,000 in Health Career Scholarships this year that range in value from $500 to $5,000. Applicants represented a wide variety of health career majors such as nursing, pre-med, radiation technology, pharmacy, and biomedical engineering. Half of the scholarship recipients are Southwest employees and volunteers. The other half is comprised of high school and adult students from around the community.

Winners of special health care scholarships

Students from Southwest Washington are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to receive financial help with expenses relating to tuition and books. Application materials for the 2009/2010 school year will be available in January 2009. All scholarship money is funded by proceeds from the Southwest gift shops, except for the privately-funded Sarina Slaid Scholarship and the First Independent Bank Scholarship.
