Pharmacy Residency Program

Pharmacy Practice Residents at Southwest have a wide variety of acute and ambulatory rotations to choose from. Residents have the flexibility to choose the combination of rotations that will best suit their needs. The only stipulation is that the resident must complete at least 12 weeks each of acute care and ambulatory rotations.

Acute Care Setting

  • Critical Care
  • Infectious Disease
  • Internal Medicine
  • Psychiatry
  • Surgery
  • Cardiology
  • Neonatal Intensive Care

Ambulatory Care Setting

  • Ambulatory Pharmacy Practice
  • Family Medicine Clinics
  • Hospice Services
  • Oncology/Cancer Center

The following longitudinal experiences are required but are completed over the course of the year.

Foundation Skill Training

Pharmacy Management
   • Meet for 1 hour every week to discuss management issues
   • A specific management rotation can be done as an elective

Drug Information
   • Completion of 2 medication use evaluations
   • Preparation and presentation of a drug monograph to P&T
   • Formal evaluation of 12 drug information responses
