Regional Cancer Center: Cancer Health & Prevention
360.514.2174

"I volunteer as a National Cancer Institute auditor, doing data auditing for one of the major cancer research organizations in America. This keeps me in touch with the world of cancer research, quality monitoring, and what's happening at other cancer centers. I always come home having learned something useful in my work, and I always come home happy that I work at Southwest." —Beth Getman, RN, BSN, OCN, team manager, Cancer Services and Cancer Research

Reliable Sources

Although there are many sources of health information on the World Wide Web, some of the most trusted resources tend to be when:

  • The website address ends in .edu (an institute of medical learning) or .gov (a government agency that regulates health-related issues).
  • The website is for a national healthcare organization (such as the American Cancer Society).

Southwest's Regional Cancer Center lists those sites which have reputations for providing reliable information. You may also want to search Southwest Washington Medical Center's Health Information Search or Symptom Navigator. You should always discuss health information with your provider, regardless of the information source.
