ADAPT: Awareness Directed
Activities for Personal
Transformation
Mission: 'To
create an environment that fosters hope and empowers people to enhance their
personal recovery journey.'
Philosophy of the Program:
- ADAPT's person-centered care is based on the belief
that people can and do recover from mental illness.
- The goal of care is to partner with people in making
choices that lead to recovery.
- The individual directs every aspect of their care.
- ADAPT is an 'oasis' where individuals can find
support, recovery education and skills, symptom relief and hope for their
future.
- The individual works together with a team of peers
and professionals and personal support people to plan participation in the
critical activities.
- Families are an integral part of care if the person
desires their participation.
- An important part of the recovery process has
to do with making effective choices.
- Individuals are coached to evaluate their choices by
deciding if choices take them closer to or further from their recovery goals.
- All ADAPT activities and discussions are guided by
the 10 Fundamental Components of Recovery presented in the National Consensus
Statement on Mental Health Recovery Pillars (Substance Abuse & Mental
Health Services Administration).
- In ADAPT the 10 Fundamental Components of Recovery
are referred to as the 10 Pillars of Recovery.
- The 10 Pillars of Recovery in ADAPT are:
- Hope
- Self-Direction
- Individualized and Person-Centered Care
- Empowerment
- Holistic Approach
- Non-Linear Process
- Strengths-Based
- Peer support
- Respect
- Responsibility
- Clark County has identified resiliancy as an additional component of
recovery which is addressed in ADAPT.
