Sink Hole Closes Mother Joseph Place at Emergency Department
05/09/2012
PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center is having to re-route ambulance and vehicle traffic because of a growing sink hole at the main entrance to the Emergency Department and Physicians’ Pavilion and parking structure. The hole started forming yesterday and crews are still assessing how to address the problem. There is still no estimate on how long the roadway will be closed.
PeaceHealth Southwest has informed Police and Emergency Medical Responders in the region to clarify how to access the Emergency Department. The sidewalk in front of the hospital along Mill Plain Boulevard remains open to the public. The hospital routinely closes this entrance during heavy rain storms when the entrance can sometimes flood.
How to access the hospital from Mill Plain Boulevard west bound West bound traffic on East Mill Plain Boulevard should continue past Mother Joseph Place and take the next right in front of the Firstenburg Tower. They can then take an immediate right to cross over to the Emergency Department. Directional signs are up to help the public.
How to access the hospital from Mill Plain Boulevard east bound East bound traffic on Mill Plain Boulevard can use the light at Mother Joseph place to make a u-turn to head back west bound and back toward the Firstenburg Tower entrance.
