Please help protect our patients and staff from the flu
The H1N1 virus (swine flu) is now widespread in our community. Those under the age of 25 are believed to be much more vulnerable to the disease and are more likely to be carriers of the virus.
Southwest is committed to protecting our vulnerable patients and our critical health team from swine flu. We have changed our visitor policy to reflect this commitment.

Please note the following changes to our visitor policy:
- Do NOT visit if you are sick. This includes fever greater than 100°F, PLUS cough or sore throat.
- Limit the number of visitors in the hospital at one time to 2 members of your immediate family or close contacts.
Additional restrictions are now in place for special care units (Intensive Care Unit, Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, Family Birth Center, and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit).
- All visitors must be well to enter these special care units
- Visitors will review a short health screening document before entering
- No visitors under the age of 12, except for siblings
- Visitors will be limited to close family members, including children and significant others.
- Time restrictions may be in place
- Please check with the unit for details
Thank you for helping keep our patients healthy and safe.
